Did any of you guys see Coldplay at the last Super Bowl? OMG. I didn’t think I would love it so much, but it was so great! I mean… when I think of American football, I definitely don’t think of Coldplay, but they really pulled it off. Bringing Bruno Mars and Beyonce into the mix made it even better. If you haven’t seen it, you should definitely head over to YouTube and check it out.

But before you do that, watch my new tutorial on how to play CLOCKS. This is one of the prettiest piano-based pop songs out there IMHO.

It’s great for beginner students because it uses one pattern continuously with only 3 chords. The chords are inverted, so this is a good introduction into inversions. (BTW, Inversions are chords that are flipped around. Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.)

Challenge alert: This song uses a lot of flat notes (black keys) so THAT plus the inversions will definitely help you build some strength in the fingers. Jumping from the first chord to the second chord can be tricky at first. Just take it really slow and once you can make the transition on the beat, you can start to go a little faster.

Let me know if you have any questions!
